I was in the market for a good quality portable DVD player for my daughter and stumbled on this Xoro gem which also comes with Freeview TV and whole host of other useful features. The player looks really smart and feels robust. The screen gives very good pictures. The unit's seven-day electronic programme guide is easy to operate and the tuner only takes a couple of minutes to locate the TV and radio channels. The player comes with its mini-aerial, and like all digital sets, this TV does have to be in strong signal area to receive TV preogrammes. Other features include an SD card reader so one can view their photos as a slideshow. There are two headphone jacks which is handy if you have two kids who want to watch a DVD at the same time when you are driving!
The only area that is not allowing me to give it 5 stars is the TV reception in poor signal areas (not the players fault mind you!). Overall very pleased and recommended.

A high standard dvd player and TV receiverReview date: 2007-04-21 Rating: 10 out of 10It is a very high standard portable dvd player among a number of other models with multiple applications. It is a portable dvd player, high definition portable digital TV, video & music player from multimedia (memory cards, external hard drive and usb drives).
We bought one, after an intensive search, for our Easter holiday in Netherlands. The order was delivered to our house the next day after order. The first impression was we made right decision as it looks very smart and compact. It later made our holiday very enjoyable and entertaining. It was used for paying dvd discs, memory cards with pre-loaded films. We were surprised that the digital TV tuner works in Holland as it can receive all digital TV channels over there.
All my family members love this little lovely player and thanks for modern technology.Disappointed ! Xoro Multiregion Portable DVD Player & Digital Freeview TVReview date: 2007-03-30 Rating: 4 out of 10I got this product from Germany via Amazon Marketplace, I really liked the design of this Xoro 9.2" Multiregion Portable DVD Player & Digital Freeview TV and even without the battery it looks great as a tablet PC type of design but getting Freeview was one big headache I can't belive how hard it is to watch television. I tried lots of different aerials to get a good reception but all I got was a few TV channels and a few radio stations. The only good thing left is the DVD player it play all my DVD's even the DVD disks that I brought from the USA. I am left feeling disappointed with Xoro 9.2" Multiregion Portable DVD Player & Digital Freeview TV product. My advice to anyone who wants a Multiregion Portable DVD Player & Digital Freeview TV is to go for products from Shinco - Shinco Multiregion Portable DVD Player with TV Tuner support from Amazon I also got one of these products and trust me it works the moment you get it out of the box !!!AppalledReview date: 2007-03-08 Rating: 2 out of 10Please read the below before you purchase, buy this at your own risk if you wish to use Freeview, the only way I can view Freeview is to plug into the rooftop aerial, clearly this isn't now portable! I received extremely poor and rude service from the supplier as well, very unwilling to help. I now own a very expensive portable DVD player.
Email from Freeview:
It is impossible to predict where you will be able to receive Freeview signals.
Freeview operates on the assumption that customers have a fixed rooftop digital aerial in good condition in order to receive consistent, high-quality signals. The portable set you use at the moment will not be equipped with such an aerial so it is therefore impossible to predict where and when you can watch. It is merely a case of trial and error on your part.A Gem!Review date: 2007-01-05 Rating: 8 out of 10If you are looking for a portable DVD and DVB (Digital Visual Broadcasting) player, then this is the one to seriously think about? The 9.2" HSD TFT screen gives a crisp clean colourful picture on both formats. It performs well in daylight in a sunny position, but the sound is a bit of a let down? You have to turn it right up to about 80% (scale 0 to 100 on screen display) to hear some programmes, and may well perform better linked to an audio amplifier.
I found the remote a little tedious too, not for people with large finger tips. It is advertised with teletext, but I'm afraid it does not have this facility, (if it does, I could not find it?) Instead it has on screen TV listings, with a read out of the programme and its contents. There is very little 'lag' between looking at channels. When setup in auto scan mode, it places all the received channels in a list, I have been unable to put them into some order? so channels are a little bit mixed, perhaps scanning them in manually may do it? The ariel supplied is good if you are within 10 miles of your transmitter, anything else will require a larger ariel or booster. The DVD's or CD's are loaded at the rear via a sliding door. This can be a little tricky especially if the unit is situated inside the leather holder which is supplied, the door tends not to open fully?
Overall, I am very satisfied with this little gem....it's not perfect but for the price and feel of quality it is a good investment!
