A pleasant surpriseReview date: 2008-12-08 Rating: 10 out of 10I had been putting off the purchase of an LCD widescreen freeview TV because I imagined that there would be a reduction in picture quality when compared to my Sony 21" crt TV. I was wrong. The only thing is that the horizontal viewing angle is less, and the vertical viewing angle is a lot less if you don't want to get colour fading. But for normal angles it is very good indeed. Everything works as advertised, and it is easy to use. It is also a heck of a lot lighter than the crt version! This television is just what I want and am delighted with it apart from one small detail, which is that the EPG is difficult to read, in fact all on screen display is too small to read without going up to the TV. But I have solved this by using my PVR (a Bush) through it and this means I get the excellent highly visable Bush software. I mention tis because to others of my (Bus Pass eligible) age it is a concern. I hope Sony will remember that a large part of the market is over 60!. Other than that it is lovely, with styling which fits against my bookshelves and is elegant. I particularly admire the surround which really would fit in with any decor, like a chameleon. It works fine, the control and handbook are super-duper. Ordered at 9pm on Thursday evening, delivered at 7.30am Saturday for less than £8 extra for delivery. Quality of picture and sound is outstanding. Stylish slim case sits well on cupboard in kitchen and does not dominate the room. My last Sony Trinitron TV was still going strong after 20 years. This one looks as though it might do the same!
